Sounds of Southall
southallstory | Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 | 3 Comments »Planning to wander the streets of Southall with my hand held Zoom sound recording device!
I imagine that people visiting this site will probably want to hear some of the sounds that we locals are more than familiar with: Broadway traffic, bustling shops, bhangra music from CD shops, Gurudwara loudspeakers, Masjid crowds, Mandirs etc.
Anyone have any ideas about what else I could record?

Look forward to seeing and hearing it! For what it’s worth, would definitely be giving that a mention on the London Sound Survey site. Be good if there were more projects like yours around London.

Really nice project you’ve got going here.
You might consider doing a ‘soundwalk’ – plotting a route which will provide plenty of sound variety along the way, and then recording it.
Here’s one made around Southall Broadway on the London Sound Survey website:

Hi Ian
Thanks for your comments, we are working on a map at the moment, that we hope will combine video, sound, images and information on key locations throughout Southall.
We hope to have it ready for next month.
